If you have worked in the UK for short periods, you may have been assigned an emergency tax code by HMRC, which means that you are likely to have overpaid your income tax. You are therefore very likely to be due an income tax rebate. Some 90% of the 2 million overseas visitors working in Britain are estimated to have overpaid their tax. Many students working part time will also have overpaid, though these two groups are not exclusive of course.
